Pablo Picasso said “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”.
When we give color pencils or painting tools for a kid, we
think it is just to play for fun, well it is, it should be, but most of us do
not realize how important and fundamental for a kid to express himself through colors.
Studies showed that Art matters in a child’s life the same
way as the language, even when in our point of view, he is just getting messy,
when we do not understand what he is doing, for him it is very important, he is
building his own space, his personality.
His way to prove himself, to say I am here, I want to
discover how and why things are like that…
Most people will probably find this weird and think that our
kids learn only what we teach them. In fact, they learn from their own
experiences, no matter how small we see them; these activities could develop
their skills in different levels, verbally and emotionally. When trying a new color, a new pencil, a new
musical instrument, or even a new game, they challenge themselves and feel an
emotional satisfaction we as adults cannot understand.
This is why, we as parents should think more about our responsibilities
toward them.
Moreover, as organizations, when we aim to help, we should
be aware of kid’s needs.
Of course, it is crucial to offer them food and cloth, but
to evolve healthier they need this environment of creativity through colors,
especially for those with difficult conditions; they survive if we let them
create their own world of magic.
For
those like us, who believe that a kid is a gift from God, despite our daily
duties and responsibilities, let us not
forget to give those little ones, beside their everyday needs, all the safety and security, and all the love
they deserve, to take care of their feelings.
But amongst all, let us provide them a space
to discover and to color their own perspective of life.
